I’m tempted to cite this as proof that SOMETHING about WordPress or (more likely) it’s community is VERY broken…

SO, what am I talking about? The fact that when I logged back into my “adult” blog, which I hadn’t done in over a year and a half, I consistently had HIGHER totals for views and likes than this blog, FOR THE PAST 15 MONTHS STRAIGHT.
THAT despite the fact my erotica blog has 54 followers and this one has 779 followers.
Anybody see some inconsistencies here?
Now it COULD be that I’m just that good a story teller, BUT somebody here recently told me I wasn’t a good enough writer to migrate to Medium.com. Regardless of that, I’d say it does prove what I’ve been saying for a long time now: The vast majority of WordPress members don’t give a damned about any content beyond their own. Similarly, Likes and Follows aren’t genuine, just something to trade to give the illusion of popularity. Complete social media mentality.
I can’t remember the last time I asked a question or provided a writing prompt here and got a single reply without bitching later.
Well, this is something to indeed consider. If a certain platform has better engagement and decent feedback then yeah it makes sense to switch over. But an argument could be made it ultimately depends on the type of audience/followers of the content

I sort of wonder, maybe due to the constant changes in WordPress, if a lot of bloggers have left WordPress but not bothered deleting their blogsites. There are a lot of bloggers that seem to have gone missing over the last year and the viewership for my blog was down by around a third. Everything I like I have read, though I’m not the greatest commenter…

People leaving for various reasons (WP changes, finding out blogging is work, etc…) is definitely a factor. HOWEVER… shouldn’t the blog with only 54 followers be doing even worse than the blog with nearly 800? 😉
I’ve been told my erotica is something else. Funny when I know how much I let self doubt hold me back while writing it. None the less, the other blog having FAR more views than this one for 15 months straight says something is VERY wrong.
I’m speaking in generalities, but know that you are NOT included in my tirade. You, Sheree at ViewFromTheBack and Candice Christian are the only consistent followers I have. I can add another 3 or 4 semi-consistent ones, but that’s about it. No matter what I try here, I can’t get views and I’m burnt out.

I’ve noticed weird page view numbers over the years, but never understood the reason for it. Some of my posts will get twenty or thirty views (with maybe a few likes or comments), while other posts don’t get any. That’s even when I’ve tried to post consistently on the same days and at the same times.
Maybe it’s just luck of the draw, but it does seem strange.

I try to stay focused on my writing more than my blog’s stats.

That’s an easy excuse for not supporting the bloggers who have supported your blog. Good thing scripture doesn’t say anything about the importance of fellowship.

While I concentrate on my writing, I do support other bloggers. I also try to leave meaningful comments as often as possible.
